Jonna Sundling now strikes back against Anders Blomquist – opens up about the difficult times: “Not at all strange”

Jonna Sundling has missed a large part of the season due to illness.
But now the skier is selected in the squad for the Tour de Ski.
– Completing the tour is absolutely something I aim to do, says Sundling to SVT.

The World Cup season got off to a solid start for Jonna Sundling during the premiere in Ruka. The skater came second in the sprint behind Emma Ribomand in the distance races it was a double 18th place for the sprint specialist.

Sundling’s return

The competitions in Ruka have become the season’s only appearances in the World Cup for Jonna Sundling. The day after the premiere, the 28-year-old received a positive covid test. It was a prolonged illness and Sundling and has not been in the squad since then.

But when the squad for the Tour de Ski was released, Jonna was finally back.
– I have taken plenty of time to really try to come back in a good way. It feels surprisingly good considering I’ve been sick. It feels like I’ve gotten into phase pretty quickly. Faster than you usually can after an illness, so that’s nice, says the Östersund resident to SVT.

Answers Blomquist

There was a small possibility that Sundling would already compete during the World Cup competitions in Trondheim. But in consultation with the team, she made the decision to take the safe side before the safe side and stand above them too.
– You always want to be there and compete for it yourself. It has been the most boring. But I have come across obstacles like this before and I know how to deal with it, says Jonna to the channel’s website.

The SVT expert Anders Blomquist expressed earlier this week a concern for Sundling, and that she will be thrown into the hectic competition that is the Tour de Ski, after resting for an extended period. But the 28-year-old does not have the same concerns.
– It doesn’t feel strange at all considering that it feels so good. Then you have to look after each competition and evaluate how everything feels, but you would normally have done that as well. But I haven’t started competing early like many of the others who have been sick have done. I don’t see being allowed to compete and to compete a lot as a problem right now. Completing the tour is absolutely something I aim to do, says Jonna Sundling.
