Jonna Sundling breaks the silence about the breakaways in the national team – and honest words about herself

The so-called “breakout trio” is back in the Swedish national ski team again.
Now, for the first time, Jonna Sundling opens up about that news.
– That’s how it feels now that they have come back, says the Swedish skiing star to SVT.

Recently it was announced that Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Lynn Svahn makes a comeback in the Swedish national ski team again. They were called the “breakout trio” before last season when they chose to leave the national team and run on their own training plans.

But this year, all three have managed to resolve the conflict with the national team management and thus an already strong national team squad is strengthened with additional blue-yellow stars on the women’s side. Next season, they will once again compete with Norway for which is the world’s best skiing team.

Today is the time for the very first national team camp of the new season when Sweden travels to Sognefjellet in Norway to start the pre-season in earnest. Then breaks Jonna Sundling the silence and speaks out for the first time about having Frida, Maja and Linn back in the team again.
– I think we feel like a more complete team now that they have returned, Jonna says in an interview with SVT Sport.
– It feels very good that they are choosing that path again. It’s good for the team, we are many strong skaters and we push each other hard to get better, I think.

Jonna changes

Sundling is coming off one of the best seasons of her career. During the World Ski Championships, she again impressed at a major championship with her second straight World Cup gold in the individual sprint and another gold medal in the sprint relay.

In addition, she saved a lot of podium places and victories at the World Cup despite the start of the season being ruined due to a troublesome illness. But she aims to be even better than that and wants to continue developing as a distance skier as well.
– I also want to ride sprints and distance in the future, then I believe very much in the path I have followed in the last year, says the 28-year-old in the interview.

The world’s best sprinter will make changes to his training plan for the coming season but wants to keep it to himself for now.
– There is a lot at the level of detail, a lot will be very similar. It’s intervals and strength training pieces that will be a little different, she tells the TV channel, admitting that it’s about small adjustments.
