Norway was humiliated on its own home ground in the women’s team sprint.
At the same time as Kristine Stavås Skistad and Lotta Udnes Weng went into seventh place, Sweden won a new World Cup gold.
– I can’t hear it, says Stavås Skistad to VG.
In advance it was about Norway and Sweden. Who would win the women’s team sprint in the World Cup? Jonna Sundling opened at a furious pace and made sure that Maja Dahlqvist had a lead to hold in below each distance. In the end, it became a new Swedish gold at the distance, the fourth straight in the World Cup context.
Norwegians depressed after the fiasco
At the same time as the Swedes delivered at the very highest level, Norway came in as seven. A splendor of fiasco Kristine Stavås Skistad and Lotta Udnes Weng. Sweden now has four golds and two bronze on the women’s side while Norway had to settle for three silver.
– I can’t hear it, says a crushed Stavås Skistad to VG.

She and Udnes Weng were incredibly depressed after the team sprint, understandably.
– Today it is so dark. I don’t know what to say. It was completely dark, says Kristine.
– Sweden can buy all of Norway now, says Udnes Weng.
Jonna and Maja Pikar Norway
When it is most gloomy for the Norwegians, Maja Dahlqvist and Jonna Sundling throw in a little more lighter fluid on the fire.
– I thought they would be a little closer than they were, Sundling tells VG.
– We had probably planned our tactics on the basis that Skistad has a good spurt. But now we didn’t even look at them at the rally, says a brilliant happy Dahlqvist.

When the Norwegians hear what Maja and Jonna said, they get a little annoyed and counter. They expect Norway to win Friday’s relay and Sunday’s 50 km freestyle.
-We can bet it will be 4-2. And Sweden does not have so many gold on the men’s side. It’s 100-0 or something, says Lotta Udnes Weng.
Congratulations to Jonna and Maja for the World Cup gold in Trondheim! What an incredible achievement to defeat the Norwegians on their own home ground. A magnificent effort.
