The disciplinary board administered by the Olympic Committee issued a decision on Joni Rytkönen’s case on Monday.

The sports ethics disciplinary board administered by the Olympiakomite has ordered Joni Rytkönen to a temporary suspension due to sexual harassment.

The suspension ends on June 30, i.e. in about five months.

Rytkönen’s case came to the fore in May, when his club Joensuun Maila suspended the player due to suspicions of harassment that came to light.

Rytkönen’s case is also under investigation by the Eastern Finland Police Department. According to Ilta-Sanomi, the police suspect Rytkö of sexually abusing the child.

Sexual abuse of a child can be sentenced to imprisonment for a minimum of four months and a maximum of six years.

Rytkönen’s case was initially handled by the Finnish Center for Ethical Research in Sports. In September, the matter proceeded to the Olympic Committee’s ethical disciplinary committee.

Another police investigation is also connected to the harassment case. Rytkönen filed a criminal complaint against the young women in November, and the police are investigating whether they have committed a crime. According to Ilta-Sanom, the crime is the unauthorized dissemination of a sexual image and the dissemination of information that violates private life.

Rytkönen has been one of Superpesis’ brightest players. He has won the championship of the series three times and once celebrated the Finnish championship in Sotkamo Jymy.

Before the incident, Rytkönen was also one of the advertising faces of Superpesis last season in the fan advertisement of six players. After the suspected incidents of harassment came to light, the Baseball Association removed Rytkönen from the ad.
