Robert Ohlsson has left Skellefteå.
Now team captain Jonathan Pudas calls on his players to pull themselves together and look ahead.
– The windshield is much larger than the rear-view mirrors, he says in P4 Västerbotten.
It was last Tuesday that the news that Skellefteå AIK’s coach Robert Ohlsson49, had said that he “shit in the supporters” was published by P4 Västerbotten. Then his relationship with the club could not be saved. Already the following morning, he was fired from last year’s SHL winner.
Rönnberg defends Ohlsson
Since then, many have mixed in the discussion whether he really deserved to be fired or not. One person who thinks the club made the wrong decision is Frölunda’s coach Roger Rönnberg.
– Something else must have happened. Otherwise, I don’t think the club takes its responsibility and stands behind its coach. I am very sad and a little annoyed that such a good coach has to leave. It doesn’t feel good, he says in Göteborgs-Posten’s hockey podcast “Klubbland”.

Former national team captain Johan Garpenlövnow a hockey expert on Radiosporten, however, is of the opinion that Robert Ohlsson has himself to blame.
— An expected decision by Skellefteå after “Robban” Ohlsson’s statements on the radio, so I’m not surprised. I react strongly to the words, because it’s not something you say outright in public, even if you think so. You have to keep that to yourself. I understand the spirit of him saying that he is not influenced by what people think and think, but what he can influence is his team’s performance. But you can’t say what he says on the radio, it’s not okay, he says to Sveriges Radio.
Puda’s new words about the coach
Skellefteå’s team captain Jonathan Pudas has previously stated that Ohlsson is disappearing. He then went out and denied that the playing squad wanted the coach removed.
– That talk came already at the beginning of the season when it was clear that “Robban” would leave after the season. The media painted a picture, while we players have been very happy with him. That’s bullshit and bloody boring; and nothing that we players stand behind. We think it is sad that he is leaving while we understand the association’s decision, he says to the local newspaper Norran.
Now he has spoken to P4 Västerbotten and he urges his colleagues to muster up the courage to “start over” with new power and energy.
– It’s sad and it will be, but somehow it is… we have to look ahead. The windshield is much larger than the rear-view mirrors. I guess that’s where we are now. Now it’s full focus on what’s to come and take it from there, he says.

Good luck for Skellefteå
He is positive that the decision to kick Ohlsson still came in connection with a break with the national team, which has enabled the club to deal with this in peace.
– First of all, it was perhaps luck of the draw that it was during a break where we were able to take these questions at a slightly more relaxed pace than if there would be a match the next day. Of course, you look forward to the games, that it will start again and that we can look ahead and start winning ice hockey games. It’s simply the best way to get more harmony in the camp, he says.
