With three important players on the injury list, Detroit called up Swedish Jonatan Berggren and two more players from their farm team, the Grand Rapids Griffins. Berggren, who has been scoring strong in the AHL, delivered a consolation goal for Detroit in the loss against Dallas.
On Detroit’s injury list before the away meeting with Dallas was the captain Dylan Larkin, Klim Kostin and JT Compher. That prompted the team to call up as many players from their farm team, among them the 23-year-old Swedish right forward Jonathan Berggren.
The Swede has had a solid delivery in the AHL this season, scoring 15 points in 16 games. So far this year, he has played four games for Detroit during which he has been recorded for an assist.

It was Detroit that started the strongest and took the lead 1–0 in the sixth minute of the first period. But then it was Dallas who took over and at 13.30 into the second period the home team had pulled away to 4–1.
That’s when Jonatan Berggren, just 20 seconds later scored his first NHL goal of the season and reduced the lead to 4–2, played by Shayne Gostisbehere.
– It feels good to contribute offensively, that’s my thing. Nice goal, nice play by Gostisbehere, Berggren said after the match and continued:
– But unfortunately we didn’t win, so it’s a bit sad afterwards.
Detroit got even a little closer when Joe Veleno reduced to 4–3 in the 14th minute of the third period. But it didn’t get more even than that. Dallas accounted for the rest of the goals in the match and the final score was 6–3 to the home team.
