Anthony Elanga is back in Jon Dahl Tomasson’s Swedish national team.
Now, the former national team back Jonas Olsson expresses how he views the union captain’s ability to communicate with his players.
– He has been faithful to his position and I think that is vital to be, he says in an interview with the Sports Bible.
It was in November that the Confederate Captain Jon Dahl Tomasson48, nobbade Nottingham Forrest’s outer midfielder Anthony Elanga22, to a Nation’s League collection. However, he could not deliver the message himself to the player, after he did not receive any feedback on the seven calls and written messages.
Anthony Elanga back in the national team
There was obviously a crack between the Premier League star and the Swedish Confederation. It was all said to be because Elanga was not happy with the playing time in the national team and that he had left the player group immediately after a national team collection earlier once, something that was not appreciated by Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Now, on the other hand, the Danish and the Swede have smoked peace. Elanga is selected in the squad that will play training against Luxembourg (March 22) and Northern Ireland (March 25). It is a preparatory collection for the autumn World Cup qualifier.
– Anthony heard from us and we have had a very good talk. It is positive. He wants to be part of the team. Forest has had a cannon season, they won against Man City recently. He wants to be part of the team. What is said between a coach and a player stays there, says Tomasson according to SVT Sport.
Jonas Olsson’s words about Jon Dahl Tomasson
One who followed the Danish closely during his first season in Sweden’s national team is the former Premier League and national team midback Jonas Olsson42. Since a couple of years ago he has been an appreciated football expert in Viaplay. He says he likes the way Tomasson handles player communication and that he thinks the Danish is straight and honest.
– I think he seems to be a good communicator and I think you notice that is becoming more and more important, both for the player group but also outward as well. I think the generation players today are products of their generation. They question tactical directives. They question why you should do something. My generation was more: “Okay, this is telling me coach to do. Then I do it ”. I think that if we continue something more then a more skilled communicator is required as the national team, and he thinks he seems to be, he says.

– So felt Janne Andersson From the beginning as well. Then when it starts to blow a little, I think he might go other ways. And there I am still with the league captain that he has not really been tested in it, that he has only had the team when they have played in the Nations League. He has not had these real qualifying matches yet and has not had the championship matches. It is clear that there will be a baptism of fire and a real answer then if you have authority and integrity, Jonas Olsson continues.
Jon Dahl Tomasson’s trouble with Elanga
During his year with the national team, Jon Dahl Tomasson ended up in several notable schisms with some players. At first it was Hugo Larssonwho was seen by the national team captain in the media after the midfielder complained that he played too little. They solved their conflict relatively quickly. But then came the brawl with Anthony Elanga right afterwards
– I think he has handled them well. Outward anyway, and that’s the only thing you can judge him from the outside because you don’t know. It’s internal. But I think he has been clear in it, says Jonas Olsson to the Sports Bible.
The former West Bromwich and Djurgårdsbacken is impressed that Tomasson has not changed to blend into Sweden. He is still himself. The same person who led Malmö FF to SM gold a few years ago.
– He has been faithful to his position and I think that is vital to be. To have an integrity in that way both externally but above all internally. Not to show that it is he who decides, but he shows that he has a basic view of two different parts of his leadership. That he is faithful. I think that is the most important thing.
