Jon Dahl Tomasson’s debut for Sweden is complete.
It was a pure nightmare with a big loss against Portugal.
There was also talk that the national team captain did not sing along during the national anthem – now he explains why.
For the first time in history, Sweden’s national team has a foreign national team captain. On Thursday night did Jon Dahl Tomasson coaching debut for Blågult and it was the worst possible start.
Tomasson’s debut
The big nation Portugal completely overpowered Sweden and led 3-0 already at the break and it was seriously underpowered. It was then 5-2 to the Portuguese, who turned off the tempo in the second half and the class difference was total down in Portugal.

The “New Sweden” has received a lot of criticism for the effort against Portugal and Dahl Tomasson’s start to the new job was leaden. Just before the first match as blue and yellow national team captain, many also noticed that the Dane did not sing along during the Swedish national anthem.
“It will be embarrassing”
Now Jon Dahl Tomasson explains why he kept his mouth shut throughout the song.
– I have to get better at it. So that it doesn’t become embarrassing, he explains to the Football channel and admits that he is trying to learn the words in the future.
– I have the text on my mobile, yes.

Press manager of the Swedish national team Petra Thorén also breaks in and promises that “we will help you”.
– Thank you, Tomasson replies with a smile.
