There has been a storm around the Swedish men’s national team.
And got really annoyed between Jon Dahl Tomasson and Hugo Larsson.
Now comes an unexpected detail that shows why Sweden’s national team captain is wrong.
It was when Hugo Larsson was poked and didn’t get to play a single minute in the Nations League match against Azerbaijan that everything took off. Since then, it has degenerated to say the least.
The 20-year-old was extremely disappointed and chose to leave the national team gathering to return home to Germany. At the time the news was that he was slightly injured, but the other day Larsson was able to train with his club team Eintracht Frankfurt.

Sweden’s national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson justified his decision to poke Hugo Larsson with the explanation that he wanted to see more vertical passes in midfield, i.e. more offensive passes. Since then, everyone has wanted to comment on the infected conflict in Blågult and a discussion has been going on for several days.
“Jon Dahl is wrong”
Now comes an unexpected detail that changes everything. When the statistics service Playmaker AI has compiled the statistics for all central national team midfielders in the Allsvenskan for the past two years, Larsson is the best of them all.
– It cannot be ignored in any way that Hugo Larsson is on par with, and even better than Anton Saletros and absolutely better than Lucas Bergvall and Sebastian Nanasi, says the analyst Ola Lidmark Eriksson to SVT.
– If we look in the Allsvenskan context, Hugo Larsson is the best of them all.

Hugo Larsson has made 45 passes forward, while Anton Saletros is second on 32, Sebastian Nanasi third with 22 forward passes and Lucas Bergvall only has 17. The poised 20-year-old also has more key passes and a better forward pass percentage than his competitors.
– I think JDT is probably wrong anyway. Hugo has it in him, says Lidmark Eriksson at Playmaker AI to the television channel, but adds a pat on the hearth because the numbers in Germany look more different.
– If you want to twist the numbers to Hugo Larsson’s disadvantage, you can look at the Bundesliga, but then you don’t get the whole picture. It is obvious that he (Tomasson) has looked at the Bundesliga and not at how he has performed in the Allsvenskan. Where he was one of the best. But he’s not a bad progressive passer, he can do it – but has had a different role in the Bundesliga, a more defensive role. Therefore, it is hard if you look at it purely objectively.
