The attacker of Helsinki Jokerit, who plays in ice hockey’s Mestis, has signed a 1+1 year player contract Ville Vainikainen with, says the club on its website.
Vainikainen, 30, is an experienced league-level winger. Vainikainen, who represented SaiPa for the last five and a half seasons, has played 403 league matches in his career.
– There is a huge boom in Jokers, and I want to be part of this journey. We are moving towards the promotion of the Jokers to the league, that is the main goal, Vainikainen commented in the press release.
Known for his physical style of play, Vainikainen was part of SaiPa’s captaincy in recent years. Last season, in 57 regular season matches, there were five goals and a total of nine power points.
– I am a physical player, I like to tackle and drive to the goal. Skating is one of my strengths, and every situation is played to the end. Through hard tackles, I try to get long rotations in the attacking area for the team, Vainikainen described his own player profile.
Jokerit is preparing for the Mestis season, which starts full of carbon dioxide. The club said on Monday that they had signed the star striker Valtteri Filppula with a player contract.
