Join us for a night in the hunt for the gangs’ luxury goods: “It shouldn’t be easy to be a criminal”

Watches, jewellery, designer clothes, cash and cars. This is what the Kronofogden and the police on Södermalm in Stockholm are looking for when they hunt for the assets of indebted criminals three nights a month in the joint effort “Operation Slant”.

– We want to make the criminal life less attractive and take away the status symbols, says Henric Wahlgren, operations manager of the Södermalm police.

SVT followed the Kronofogden and the police in Stockholm night. The crown inspectors tell us about a new trend they think they see – that the people they stop more and more often drive rental and leasing cars. A possible way to avoid foreclosure.

So far this year, assets to the value of SEK 6.5 million have been confiscated during the operation “Operation Slant” on Södermalm in Stockholm.

The majority of seizures are from criminals with debts.

The confiscated items are then auctioned off by the Kronofogden, and the money is used to pay debts, including to crime victims.
