Toyota’s Kalle Rovanperä opens his rally season with the Rovaniemi SM Rally. The reigning world champion is driving a Toyota Rally1 car in the race, so the race is a good preparation for the Swedish World Rally Championship.
Rovaperä is tightened by a teammate Elfyn Evans. No other drivers from the main class of the World Championship are participating in the race. Instead, Toyota’s team manager Jari-Matti Latvala drives in the rally with his historic class Toyota Celica.
The first category of the SM series includes, among other things, the leader of the SM series Roope Korhonen and who drove in the EC series last season Mikko Heikkilä. They will participate in the race with Toyota’s new Rally2 cars.
With Toyota, Estonia will also participate in the race Georg Linnamäki. The new Toyota Rally2 car can also be driven by a member of Toyota’s young driver development program Yuki Yamamoto.
