Join BioBlitz in Västerås – 12 hours of deep diving in biodiversity

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

For 12 hours, Södra Björnö’s plant and animal life was put under scrutiny on Saturday. It was everything from bird walks, plant walks to night bird listening on the program that was Västerås’ first BioBlitz, but not the last.

– We will run BioBlitz annually, maybe not here on Björnö every year. If there is an area that we want to know more about, this is a good way to find out more in just one day, says Bengt Stridh, chairman of the Botanical Society in Västmanland.

Why are you doing this?

– One purpose is to show the biological diversity. To spread interest and knowledge about nature. Biodiversity is threatened in many parts of the world, says Bengt Stridh.

In the clip, you get to follow the paths on Björnö in an intensive biological inventory.
