My version of Pirates of the Caribbean 5 sorted out, because there was a female villain in it. Johnny Depp feared this might be redundant after Dark Shadows, which also features a female enemy. Maybe the script was just bad.
Rossio was eventually replaced by Jeff Nathanson (terminal). If his assessment is correct, Depp’s objection must seem bizarre to many fans. What should “redundant” mean in this context?
