Many action fans can’t think of a better John Wick actor than Keanu Reeves. As revealed by franchise executives Derek Kolstad and Basil Iwanyk, the figure should actually be 75 years old. And be played by an actor like Clint Eastwood. Reeves knew how to prevent that.

Iwanyk revealed this in the John Wick book “They Shouldn’t Have Killed His Dog: The Complete Uncensored Ass-Kicking Oral History of John Wick, Gun Fu, and the New Age of Action,” as quoted by Variety.

Thanks to Iwanyk’s personal connection to Reeves’ agency, the screenplay also went to the much younger actor. According to screenwriter Kolstad, the neo-actor had the draft “fully appropriated” and the figure greatly rejuvenated.
