John Wick: Chapter 4 starring Keanu Reeves is a top-notch action movie in more ways than one. Not least with the running time, which is an epic 169 minutes. But that’s not enough for director Chad Stahelski. As he has now revealed, he is working on one Version of the film that is said to be up to 15 minutes longer than the theatrical version.
New John Wick 4 version longer than 3 hours: what are the new scenes?
Stahelski explained to Comicbookmovie:
For the theatrical version, we cut out a large part of the Berlin sequence. It also includes a new character called The Frau [!], which has a funny scene with John. There is a new scene with the tracker [Shamier Anderson] and a few action moments that we reinserted.
Stahelski does not provide more details about the new character or the new scenes. However, he emphasizes that he love the action choreography of the newly inserted sequences and couldn’t use it in the theatrical version for rhythm reasons.
When is the extended version of John Wick 4 with Keanu Reeves coming out?
The longer version of the film, which could also be called the Director’s Cut, has no start date yet. A Blu-ray and DVD release is expected. The regular John Wick 4 version can already be ordered on Amazon with various extras. *
