Last spring, Victor Johansson and his friends took the golf cart for a “tour of the neighborhood”. The ride went over a patch of grass, resulting in the car overturning and everyone getting hurt.
— We think one wheel got stuck in some mud, and 300-400 kilos of guys were pushed in one direction. The golf cart overturned and everyone was injured, says Johansson to SVT.
For the swimming star, it was about a rib fracture and a partially collapsed lung. The injuries kept him out of training for six, seven weeks. For that reason, he chooses to forego the swimming World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, which will be held on July 23-30.
— It takes time to build back what you have lost over such a long period.
Instead, he aims for the Olympics in Paris next summer.
— I have to be in shape in February to qualify for the Olympics and then in July, August, that’s it, says Victor Johansson.
