Jonna Sundling has won three of the season’s four sprint races so far.
Because she is so dominant, she now receives a special proposal from Johannes Hösflot Kläbo.
– Maybe Jonna will compete in the men’s class as fast as she drives now, so we have to put her in her place, he tells Radiosporten.
She is the reigning double world champion in sprint and sprint relay (double WC gold in both Oberstdorf 2021 and Planica 2023) and also has Olympic gold in sprint. Sundling started the sprint season with a fourth place in Ruka, which was somewhat unexpected in a way. Since then, she has won three straight. First a sprint victory in Lillehammer, followed by a win in the sprint relay (with Emma Ribom) and a sprint victory in Davos. She is thus currently leading the overall Sprint Cup.
– It’s fun when it feels good. It’s great to compete here. I feel that I got some revenge, it has never gone so well here, she says after the race in Davos.

She is now celebrated by the Norwegian skiing legend Marit Björgen44, who is greatly impressed by Sundling’s ice coldness in the races. She is calm and saves her energy until it is really needed.
– I love Jonna. She is raw. She saves herself a little in the heats and waits until the final, what she does is impressive. It is stable, says Marit Björgen to Radiosporten.
Kläbo’s controversial proposal to Sundling
Another Norwegian skater also likes what he sees in Jonna. The male equivalent of Sundling, the 28-year-old Johannes Hösflot Kläbohas been at least as dominant as her lately. Next weekend there are no World Cup competitions. Instead, the Tour de Ski awaits in Italian Toblach from December 28 to January 1. A few days later, the tour moves on to the classic Val di Fiemme. The regular World Cup gets under way again in Les Rousses, France, on January 17-19. Long-distance WC in Trondheim is February 27 to March 9 next year.
