Johanna Leshem Jansson was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Tove.
Now the 20-year-old’s lawyer is appealing the sentence and is demanding that she be acquitted of murder, according to SVT.
20-year-old Johanna Leshem Jansson is appealing the life sentence in Tovefallet, reports SVT Jönköping. The appeal was submitted to the Göta Court of Appeal on Friday and Johanna Leshem Jansson is demanding that she be acquitted of suspicion of murder, according to the channel.
The 20-year-old was sentenced together with Maja Hellman, 18, to life imprisonment for murder and grave breach of privacy.
Calling the coroner unsure
Attorney Clea Sangborn again questions the cause of death and the coroner’s credibility. Already when the verdict was handed down, Sangborn announced that she intended to appeal.
– My reaction is that we will appeal, she said then.
In Sangborn’s opinion, there are still doubts about the coroner’s statement, which she describes as “unclear”. She has not yet had time to speak with her 20-year-old client, Johanna Leshem Jansson.
– I believe that the coroner himself was unsure and wrote that she had this stomach contents in her lungs, then she removes it. Her information is not so certain. She comes across as confident – and says she is confident – but that’s another thing than being right, she said at the time.
TV4 Nyheterna has sought Clea Sangborn for a comment on the appeal.
