Johanna Jansson is convicted of the murder of Felt, 21, in Vetlanda. When the verdict was handed down, it looked like Jansson would serve a life sentence, but the sentence was then reduced to 16 years instead of life.
Before Jansson was moved to the women’s institution in Ystad, where she will serve her sentence, she lived temporarily at the Hinseberg institution, but the stay was short-lived.
In January 2024, the Hinseberg staff suspected that Jansson was planning an escape attempt from the institution together with two fellow inmates. Before Jansson could carry out the plans, however, the staff locked up the institution’s inmates for security reasons.
Jansson’s forbidden plans led to her being temporarily moved to the detention center in Gothenburg before her more permanent move to Ystad.
In addition, Jansson’s tweezers were confiscated, because during the escape she intended to use it to stab staff in the eyes.

The staff found letters in Johanna Jansson’s cell
News24 has previously written about the details of the convicted murderer’s escape attempt, according to information from Aftonbladet. According to the newspaper’s information, the staff found letters in her cell that showed that Jansson planned the escape together with the two other inmates.
The stenographer, which is in the cell so that the prisoner can communicate with the staff, had also been tampered with by Jansson.
So how would the planned escape attempt go? Well, according to the information, Jansson and the other inmates had intended to take the staff hostage.
In order to more easily overpower the victim, they had decided that the person should be short and thin. Then the plan was to poke the person in the eyes with tweezers and twist all the alarm equipment so that the hostage would not be able to raise the alarm.

Johanna Jansson wants a new pair of tweezers
Since Jansson’s attempt to escape the institution, the tweezers have been seized by the Correctional Service – something that Jansson himself is not happy about.
She has appealed the Probation Service’s decision and is requesting a review in order to have access to tweezers again, according to a judgment from the administrative court in Malmö which Nyheter24 has seen.
She claims that she only wants tweezers to pluck her eyebrows, because the tweezers available for purchase at the institution’s kiosk “don’t work”. She says that she knows several fellow inmates who are allowed to have tweezers in their rooms without problems.
In the judgment that Nyheter24 has seen, it appears that Johanna Jansson claims the following:
“She will not manipulate the device in any way, but only use it to pluck her eyebrows. She has never misused her tweezers. She has not been involved in anything that happened before in another institution with tweezers. She would not keep the tweezers in the room but borrow it from her box at the correctional services office for a limited time”
The appeal is rejected: No tweezers for Johanna Jansson
However, the Administrative Court and the Prison Service do not share Jansson’s view of the situation and instead assess that the possession of tweezers is not particularly important to Jansson.
They believe that Jansson’s appeal does not add any information that changes the situation. The appeal must therefore be rejected.
