Johanna is stuck in the car in the snow chaos on the E22

Somewhere just after Linderöd on the E22, Johanna Wallin is stuck – all alone. She is covered in snow in her car after the weather chaos has put it right in the southern parts of Sweden.

– I feel pretty good. I was driving from work and luckily refueled and did some shopping on the way. So I have some fruit, some bread and water. I have gas so I can keep the car running a bit every now and then for heat. I’m probably better off than many others who are stuck, she says.

Johanna was on her way home to her family in Södra Sandby when she got stuck. Now she has been stuck since 14.00 and has a good distance home. Luckily, she bought, among other things, bananas, sweets and hamburger buns, which she ate a little of.

– I save gnawing on the frozen veggie burgers until there is a real crisis. I also melt snow into water in the bag that was for the hamburger buns, she says.

Can be stuck all night

There have been many accidents around the country and up to 300 cars are stuck in the chaos on the E22 in Skåne. The Swedish Transport Agency says that the road can only open at 05.00 tomorrow morning.

– In front of me I have a lot of cars and also next to me. So there are cars in both lanes. Snowdrifts have formed between the cars as it has been snowing all the time since I stopped here. There are maybe 30-40 centimeters of snow drifts between the cars. All the cars are in separate pits, says Johanna.

She says she talked to a passing police officer who thought it was going to stop a while ago. But it hasn’t. Despite this, she is in good spirits.

– It will probably go well for me anyway. I’m preparing to sit here all night, she says.
