Johanna Hagström now reveals the truth about Linn Svahn’s accident

There seems to be no end on Linn Svahn’s bad luck.
The ski star’s World Cup is over after she fell on training and hit her head.
“I didn’t think it would be so serious,” says national team colleague Johanna Hagström, who saw the crash from close range.

It’s like a curse, says the national team coach Stefan Thomson When he meets the press on the World Cup arena Granåsen an hour before the women’s sprint qualification should start the championship. It’s easy to understand what he means.

Linn Svahn Finally got into a championship with a positive feeling. She was forced to leave the ski World Cup before it even started.
– It’s incredibly boring for Linn. And that it should be on such a unfortunate thing. Now she was in great shape. I suffer a lot with her, says Thomson.

Svahn’s accident

A crash on Wednesday’s workout – Svahn hit his head and sustained a concussion in the downhill towards the stadium – stops her participation.
– Unfortunately, it has not been good, it is a clear concussion and she is now following a concussion protocol. She still has headaches, nausea and is sensitive to light, says national team doctor Rickard Noberius.

Johanna Hagström Went right behind Svahn at the crash.
– I was close to going into her. I didn’t think it would be that serious. I don’t know what to say, I’m a little empty of words, says Hagström to Aftonbladet and Expressen.

The doctor’s message

Continuing to compete was completely excluded, says Rickard Noberius.
– The big risk is if she crashes again, it can be fatal consequences, so it is not relevant to expose yourself to such a risk. This can cause problems that last for a long time.

Just a couple of days ago, a relaxed Linn Svahn stood and told her that she was finally able to prepare as she wants for a championship.
“This is the first time I have been in a press conference and have the feeling that I had two weeks with flawless preparation,” she said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Linn’s great bad luck

Before the World Cup in Oberstdorf 2021, Svahn was in the form of her life when she fell and injured her shoulder. She still started in the World Cup sprint, but missed the final. The shoulder injury then turned out to be much more serious than expected and she missed both the subsequent World Cup season and the Beijing Olympics in 2022.

The days ahead of this year’s World Cup there has been a lot of talk about the icy courses in Trondheim. It had nothing to do with Svahn’s crash, points out Stefan Thomson.
– It was an accident. She got back weight and fell so unfortunate that her head hit. It could have happened to anyone and anywhere, says Thomson.
