Eliminated in the Stanley Cup.
Then William Nylander can join Tre Kronor’s WC squad.
– It would of course be a reinforcement, says national team captain Johan Garpenlöv.
Tre Kronor has got a dream start at the hockey World Cup. There have been three straight victories, and most recently yesterday (read Tuesday) they crushed Great Britain with as many as six goals to zero.
Can connect to Tre Kronor
And now further reinforcement can come to Tre Kronor’s squad. Johan Garpenlöv has been clear that he wants to bring in NHL players, and has gone around fewer chains to make room for any reinforcements from North America.
One who can connect is Toronto star William Nylander. The forward left the Stanley Cup playoffs a couple of days ago after a real thriller series against Tampa Bay. Now Garpenlöv hopes that the Swede joins Tre Kronor.
– It would of course be a reinforcement for us with all the skill he possesses. This is the top competence we lack, he says according to SVT.
“Had contact…”
No definitive message has yet been received, but Johan Garpenlöv is still positive about the possibility.
– We have had contact, but I am waiting for an answer from there. It’s 50/50. You never know, he continues.
William Nylander has had his very best season away in the NHL. The Swede accounted for 80 points in 81 games during the regular season, and averaged one point per game during the game series against Tampa Bay.
