Johan Davidsson apologizes for HV71’s poor start to the season

Club legend Johan Davidsson is now an assistant coach in HV71.
He is also responsible for the team’s play in the power play, which has not worked at all so far for the table jumbo.
– It is clear that I am the one who receives the criticism when things do not go well, he says to Jönköpings-Posten.

With 16 seasons with HV71 in the elite series is Johan Davidsson48, one of the club’s greatest ever players. The captain scored 671 points in 920 games for the club. In addition, he won four SM golds and was awarded several individual prizes during his active years.

Worst in the series

Nowadays, Johan Davidsson is part of the leadership staff in HV71. He is Anton Blomqvist assistant coach and he is also responsible for games in the power play. Unfortunately, HV71 is the team in the SHL that is currently in the absolute worst form of the game. There have been zero goals forward on ten power plays, which is the worst in the series. They are actually also the worst in box play as they conceded three goals in nine box plays.

– It’s a form of play in which we have to become much more efficient, it’s something that can make us win these even matches and there we’ve lost the battle so far. We have two, three times where we do really well, but then it’s a little bad timing and a little bad quality in the passes that mean we don’t get it, says Davidsson to the local Jönköpings-Posten about the team’s play in the power play.

Despite the fact that Johan Davidsson is one of the club’s best players of all time, he is not completely free from criticism. In fact, he has received quite a lot of crap on social media for how the team has acted on the power play so far.

– I am responsible for PP, so it is clear that I am the one who receives the criticism when things do not go well. Then I can’t care too much about it right now, but I focus on finding solutions. It is my task and I want to solve it in a good way, he says and apologizes.

This is how HV71 will solve the crisis

He concludes by answering the question how they are working to solve the problem. It’s a long harangue of sports clichés. Maybe that is the recipe for success going forward?

– Now it’s time to drop your shoulders and not hug the club too hard. It is easy for things to become stressful and for the players to become a little anxious. But now it’s time to dare, a scared shooter rarely scores, says Johan Davidsson.
