Was told to lock the doors
– I was at a gas station just outside Lewiston when we heard that something was going on. We saw police cars driving by. I looked at the news and the internet but then there was no information, says Johan Bergström.
A moment later, the alarm came from the authorities – there was an active shooter in the area.
– We received an alarm that the doors were to be locked, says Johan Bergström.
Shut down in the area
Several hours after the shootings, the perpetrator has not yet been arrested.
– Most of the neighbors have turned off all the lights. We only have a small lamp lit in one of the rooms, says Johan.
Johan lives in Sabattus, just outside Lewiston and near Lisbon where the police found a car believed to belong to the suspect Robert Card.
– It is only five kilometers from here. There have been a lot of helicopters and sirens in the area, says Johan Bergström.
Later during the night, however, the helicopters should have moved in towards Lewiston again, says Johan.
