On Saturday, the final of “Idol” takes place, and the participants Joel Nordenberg, Minou Nilsson and Margaux Flavet fight each other to take home the win. But Joel Nordenberg is skeptical about one of the prizes – namely the Diggiloo tour.
Going out and touring with Diggiloo during the summer is one of the prizes that the “Idol” winner gets to share. But for Joel Nordenberg, it is not something that he looks forward to if he were to win, something that Hänt previously reported on.
– I don’t really feel that it is something that I want to start my career with, to go out and sing songs that are not my own. It’s at the beginning of my career and I don’t feel like I want to throw myself into such a big thing so closely, it’s not something that has that much interest with me, he says to TV4 Nyheterna.
“They are doing well”
Instead, Joel Nordenberg wants to focus on writing and releasing his own music after “Idol” ends.
– I want to do my job and work on my songs, and then have my own tours in the future. Sometimes you have to say no to things to say yes to bigger things, he says.
What does the “Idol” production say about it?
– They are chill, they take it well. It could have been worse.
The boot to the winning song: Not a song I had listened to
In the final, the idols will perform three songs each – two of their own choosing, and each a version of the winning song. This year’s winning song is called “I’ll write your name across the sky” and was written by Jörgen Elofsson.
– If I’m being completely honest, it’s not a song I’d personally listened to or written. It is not a song that I had associated myself with, but it is fun to sing a song that is completely new, says Nordenberg and continues:
– It’s not really me, but I have to do it in the best way I can.
In addition to the winning song, Joel Nordenberg will perform “Amen” by Jireel and Justin Bieber’s “Where do I fit in”, a song he says is close to his heart.
– It has a strong message. We humans can go through seasons where it’s tough and we feel like we can’t take it. I myself have been there many times, where I have felt that I just want a place to rest. I hope people will feel that it is a strong message that they can rest in, he says.
