Joe Bidens unconditional support for Israel increasingly contested internally

A letter signed by 500 government agents was sent to Joe Biden on Tuesday November 14 to protest his unconditional support for Israel in the Gaza Strip. This letter is signed by 500 members of the Biden administration, who all supported his election and today work in around forty bodies including the State Department, the FBI, the Department of Justice and the Council of national security.

The signatories ask him “ to urgently demand a ceasefire “, ” to call for the release of Israeli hostages » but also Palestinians « arbitrarily detained”. They also call for the restoration of water, fuel, electricity and adequate humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

This approach is not a first. This is even the third time in a few weeks that federal agents have sent a petition to Joe Biden’s desk to protest his support for the Israeli operation.

Citing a poll from October, the letter recalls that 66% of Americans are also in favor of a ceasefire. A figure that even rises to 80% among Democrats. And in Congress, protests from the progressive wing are increasingly visible.

One year before the presidential election, many analysts wonder if Joe Biden has not already lost the vital support of his left wing, but also of young people and minorities due to his increasingly contested Middle East policy. in his own camp.
