Joe Biden’s blunder – confuses politicians

The mistake comes just days after he mistook Emmanuel Macron for Francois Mitterrand, the former French president who died in 1996.

When President Joe Biden attended a campaign event in New York on Wednesday, he struck again. This time he managed to refer to the late German Chancellor Helmut Kohl instead of former Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Confused Angela Merkel with dead leader

The 81-year-old would describe conversations he had with European leaders in 2021, months after the riots at the Capitol.

The president said that Helmut Kohl, who died in 2017, had asked him how he would react if he read about people storming the British parliament and killing officers “to stop the election of a prime minister”.

However, it was Angela Merkel who attended the summit as Chancellor of Germany.

Joe Biden’s misstatements

Similar misstatements by the US president have been flagged for regularly in recent years.

Last November, he mixed up the artists Taylor Swift and Britney Spears. Something that made headlines.
