As Variety reported, the two-time Oscar winner unpacked her Star Wars reveal on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon: Then asked if there was any truth to the internet chatter that she had the role of Princess Leia in the first Star Wars film was offered, Jodie Foster replied:
Yes, [die Rolle] was offered to me. They wanted a younger Princess Leia, but I had one [Termin-]Conflict. I made a Disney film and didn’t want to just jump ship because I already under contract was.

Jodie Foster was 14 years old when the first Star Wars film was released. She had just filmed Taxi Driver with Martin Scorsese the year before. Although she doesn’t name the Disney film she cites as an obstacle to her Star Wars appearance, it is most likely Disney’s 1976 body-swap comedy A really crazy Friday (Freaky Friday).

Jodie Foster doesn’t know how good she would have been as Leia in Star Wars
The Star Wars role went to the then 19-year-old Carrie Fisher and Jodie Foster expresses her admiration for the current version:
You did a great job. I don’t know how good I would have been. Maybe I would have had different hair. Maybe in the shape of a pineapple.
Even without Star Wars, Jodie Foster, now 61 years old, can look back on an impressive career. After her Hollywood start as a child star, she made films like The Silence of the Lambs and most recently Netflix’s Nyad. We can only imagine with a lot of imagination how different her acting career would have been with her Star Wars cast.
