Jobs available in upcoming municipal election

Candidates aren’t the only people who need to be aware of key dates and details for the upcoming municipal election.

Friday at 2 pm is the deadline for those wishing to register as candidates for county council or school board elections.

The county is looking for people interested in working in the October 24 as well as the advance polls on October 8, 12, and 14.

Positions, held at various locations throughout the county, include location supervisor, deputy returning officer, tabulator officer, elections assistant/greeter, and backup worker. A link to the application is available on the Norfolk County Election 2022 page on the county website.

Those eligible to vote also need to make sure they are on the voters’ list. Those who have moved in the last four years may not be on the list.

“Please visit voterlookup.ca to ensure your information is up-to-date. VoterLookup.ca is also used to collect the names of all occupants in a household,” said a media release.

“This information is collected by MPAC and provided to municipalities and school boards to assist with planning purposes and to ensure voters receive a Voter Information Card for the 2022 municipal and school board election in the mail.”

Norfolk County’s 2022 election website includes a list of important dates, candidates, contact information and ward map.
