The first lady of the United States, first lady Jill Biden, has had a Dutch tulip named after her. She is the seventh first lady to agree to name one of the country’s tulip varieties.

Unlike its human namesake, the Jill Biden tulip is reddish orange and has fringed petals.

The Netherlands has named tulip varieties after seven American first wives since the late 1800s. The first tulip was named after President Grover Cleveland’s wife Frances Folsom Cleveland.

The last time a tulip was named after a first lady was in 2004 when George W Bush’s wife Laura Bush accepted the offer from the Netherlands.
