The annual salary of the Finnish forward, who sought speed in the AHL after hip surgery, is $800,000.

The NHL club Pittsburgh Penguins announces that it has signed a two-year player contract Jesse Puljujärvi with. The annual salary of the Finnish striker is 800,000 dollars.

Puljujärvi, who was without a contract after summer hip surgery, signed a try-out contract with Pittsburgh in December and played 13 games in the club’s AHL farm team Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins with an output of 4+5=9. The plus-minus statistic was eight points in the plus.

The 25-year-old Puljujärvi’s career in the NHL has not taken off as expected. Puljujärvi, who played poorly in Edmonton and Carolina last season, told Urheilu after his hip surgery in July that he fought with his hips all season.

Puljujärvi is the Edmonton Oilers’ first-round selection from 2016. He has played 334 games in seven seasons in the NHL with an output of 51+63=114.

Agent of Puljujärvi Markus Lehto told Urheilu last week that he believes the Finn will soon play again at the highest level of hockey.

– I firmly believe that Jesse Puljujärvi will play in the NHL this season. Provided, of course, that the hips work and can be made to work in such a way that the man would be able to play at his upper limits. To some extent, we have to take into account where we have come from and where we are going now, Lehto said

The Pittsburgh Penguins are fifth in the Metropolitan Division.
