Jens Toornstra continues to fight for a starting spot at

Jens Toornstra (April 4, 1989) made his professional debut in 2009 with ADO Den Haag. Halfway through the 2012/2013 season he switched to FC Utrecht. As a player for FC Utrecht, he made his debut for the Dutch national team in June 2013, for which he made a total of four appearances.

After a year and a half at FC Utrecht (52 matches, 21 goals), he left for Feyenoord just after the start of the 2014/2015 season, where he would eventually play almost 300 matches (60 goals) in eight years. He became national champion in 2017, won the KNVB Cup twice and the Johan Cruijff Shield twice. He also played in the final of the Conference League in 2022, which Feyenoord lost to AS Roma.

In August 2022 he returned to FC Utrecht on a free transfer. Since his return to Galgenwaard, he has played 44 matches for FC Utrecht, scoring twice. His first goal was against Feyenoord.
