The road to the absolute top has been bumpy for Jenny Carlson. As an 18-year-old, she was diagnosed with the intestinal disease ulcerative colitis and five years later she was forced to have surgery and a stoma bag.
– Being a 23-year-old girl and getting an ostomy bag on your stomach is not the first thing you think you want, she tells SVT Sport.
The now 28-year-old gaming engine has chosen to be open with her stoma bag and on the Instagram account “athletewithstoma” she shares her everyday life.
– It’s a way for me to become more comfortable with it. That people know about it.
She says that many of the comments are positive, but not all.
– People can write that you are disgusting, that you are not allowed to be near or in the pool.
