Lawrence took a two-year break from acting after Dark Phoenix and only reappeared for the Netflix production Don’t Look Up. Opposite Vanity Fair she explained her withdrawal at the time:

I didn’t get the quality of movies I wanted. Everyone was fed up with me. I was fed up. I got to a point where I couldn’t please anyone anymore. When I walked the red carpet, someone would write, ‘Why didn’t she run?’

According to Lawrence, she has long tried to satisfy other people with her work. “The work made me feel nobody can be mad at me. Finally I agreed [im Film] to play along” She turned her back on her star image to cultivate a new self-confidence.

During her break, she reportedly focused on her health and her circle of friends. Since her return, she has put her renewed vigor into three other films, including Don’t Look Up, drama Causeway and new comedy No Hard Feelings.
