Pushed by her mother, Jennifer Gray underwent cosmetic surgery operations that would have ruined her acting career. Today, the Dirty Dancing star is very sorry.
In promotion for the release of his memoirs entitled Out Of The Corner which will be published on May 3, Jennifer Gray gave an interview to the site People on April 18. The actress talks about her loves, a Following dirty dancing or cosmetic surgery.
Rhinoplasty gone wrong
It is at the age of 27 that we discover Jennifer Gray in the role of Baby alongside Patrick Swayze, in the cult film Dirty Dancing. So at the height of his glory, the star today 62 years old decides to follow the advice of his mother Jo Wilder, also an actress, who encourages him to go under the knife. “She said to me: ‘You know what? It’s too difficult to find you roles. Make it easier for them’ (…) When I was a child, I was completely against the rhinoplasty. I love that my parents made it [la rhinoplastie]. I know it was the 50s. I understand that it was necessary to adapt“, explains Jennifer Grey.
The actress then undergoes two rhinoplasties (a second operation was necessary to correct the defects of the first) which would have transformed his face. It is during a preview that Jennifer Gray realizes that she made a mistake, when actor Michael Douglas does not recognize her: “It was my first time going out in public. And it became this thing, the idea of being completely invisible, overnight. In the eyes of the world, I wasn’t myself anymore,” she confides in People.
Regret cosmetic surgery
Jennifer Gray admits to having resented her mother after her two nose operations: “I was so mad at my mom for always telling me I had to do my nose job. […] I shouldn’t have done it,” she says to the American site. Today, the wife of actor Clark Gregg (Marvel: Agents of SHIELD.) admits to regretting his operations plastic surgery which would have cost him several roles in the cinema. “I spent so much energy trying to figure out what I did wrong, why I was banished from the realm. This is a lie. I banished myself”, underlines Jennifer Grey, who did not actually have a significant role after Dirty Dancing, released in 1987.
