At the end of 2022, Wednesday not only took the streaming charts on Netflix, but also the internet by storm. In Tim Burton’s fantasy horror sequel Beetlejuice, there will be a remake of the iconic dance scene that played a key role in making the first part from 1988 a cult film. In it, ghosts take possession of the Deetz family and their guests at an important dinner and sing and dance to Harry Belfonte’s song Day-O (The Banana Boat Song).

Jenna Ortega in Wednesday

In an interview with Collider, Ortega drew parallels between her dance scene in Wednesday and the new scene in Beetlejuice 2:

The process for both [Tanzszenen] was very chaotic and very, ‘Okay, well, this feels right.’ Only with [Beetlejuice 2] it was a little better. With Wednesday, it was about three in the morning before the day of shooting when I thought, ‘Oh my God, I told him I’m doing this dance and I still have no idea what I’m going to do.‘ Now there was still pressure, but Catherine O’Hara is there, Justin [Theroux] is there, Winona [Ryder] is there. We’ll all get through this together somehow. She can do it. And Tim [Burton] had so much faith in us that he said, ‘Oh, it’s fine. Don’t worry.’When is Beetlejuice 2 with Jenna Ortega coming to theaters?

You can see how Jenna Ortega performs this time when dancing from 12 September 2024 on the big screen. The film will have its world premiere on August 28th at the Venice Film Festival. Moviepilot editor-in-chief Jenny Jecke will be there and report on Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel.
