Pants with what appear to be pee stains were shown on the catwalk.
Then they sold out immediately.
– This is a rumor that has gone viral and it’s not so strange, perhaps, says fashion expert Emilia de Poret.
It is the British-Italian designer duo Jordanluca who presented the “kiss jeans” on the catwalk for autumn fashion. The reactions have been scattered. The pants were mocked by many on social media – but still sold out immediately, despite the price tag of SEK 8,000.
Fashion expert Emilia de Poret tells us more about the brand behind the viral jeans.
– This is a brand that works with kink, they work with gimmicks, it’s part of their signature, so they want to get this uproar and they’re damn cruel at doing good PR and at selling, she says in “After five”.
“Anti financial capitalism”
There is also, according to the brand themselves, a deeper meaning behind the “pee pants”.
– They say that these jeans are against financial capitalism and that things go so fast in society, so we don’t even have time to go and pee in the toilet, so we pee in our pants instead, says Emilia de Poret.
The idea can be considered contradictory considering that the brand wants to sell and that a pair costs SEK 8,000.
– I do not really know. I’m not really buying this to be completely honest.
“A whole new level”
Emilia de Poret highlights some examples where jeans have been designed with what are supposed to look like spots. Like when Gucci made a pair of trousers with “grass stains” and Acne a pair with “dirt”.
– But peeing your pants, that’s a whole new level, she says.
