The last bear in Vercors, this mid-mountain French massif, was shot in 1898 and ended up stuffed in a museum in Grenoble. Starting from this proven historical fact, the author Jean-Marc Rochette draws a formidable graphic novel entitled the last queen. A comic strip that talks about man’s relationship with wild nature, but also tells a beautiful love story between a soldier and a sculptress who repairs the broken jaws of the First World War.
