The former leader of the presidential party is being prosecuted for contempt of the head of state, harmful imputations and defamation. A member of President Tshisekedi’s UDPS, he recently moved to the opposition after being expelled from the presidential party. A national deputy, we do not treat him like this! He should be assigned to house arrest and not prison. It is simply a political trial, there is nothing judicial as such. The President of the Republic had made the rule of law his hobbyhorse; where are we with this slogan, “the rule of law”?
