It was on December 11, 1930 that Jean-Louis Trintignant was born in the town of Piolenc, not far from Orange. His father, Raoul, was an industrialist who took political positions in the 1940s, where he officiated as mayor of Pont-Saint-Esprit and then general councilor of the canton. Of him, Jean-Louis will say in the Journal du Dimanche in 2017 that he was “a petty bourgeois, which I am too”. His mother, Claire, is from a rather wealthy family.
