JD Vance becomes Trump’s running mate

He rose to fame as the author of the best-selling memoir Hillbilly: A Family and Culture in Crisis, and has called Donald Trump “America’s Hitler.”
Now Trump is proposing the 39-year-old Senator JD Vance as his vice presidential candidate.

JD Vance was named as Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate on Monday evening, Swedish time.

The presidential candidate presented the message on his own platform Truth Social.

“After much deliberation and thought, and in consideration of the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the office of Vice President of the United States is Senator JD Vance,” he wrote in the post.

Vance has been sitting in the Senate since 2022 where he represents the Republicans of the state of Ohio.

Called Trump “America’s Hitler”

Before entering politics, he worked as a lawyer and venture capitalist. He also broke through as a writer when he released the memoir “Hillbilly : a family and culture in crisis” in 2016. There he describes his upbringing and family within the white working class.

The book also seeks an explanation for why the white working class in the countryside is attracted by real estate tycoon Trump.

In 2016, he himself was a strong opponent of Trump. In public, he described him as “reprehensible” and an “idiot”. Privately, he is said to have compared him to “USA’s Hitler”, writes Reuters.

But over time, the newly appointed candidate has become a staunch supporter of Donald Trump.
