It was last Saturday that emergency services were called to a garage complex in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank where the legendary talk show host keeps his large car collection.
“I got serious burns from a fire caused by gasoline. I’m fine. Just need a week or two to recover,” he writes to the AP news agency. It is still unclear what caused the fire.
The talk show host is known for his great interest in cars and extensive collection of vintage cars and new vehicles, worth a total of SEK 500 million. In an interview with the New York Times a few years ago, Leno said that all the cars in the collection were always full of fuel and ready to go so that he could spontaneously drive off with whichever car he wanted to take for the day.
Leno, 72, was scheduled to perform at a conference in Las Vegas on Sunday, but had to cancel because of the fire.
