In Japan, the country’s prime minister Shigeru Ishiba plans to call new elections for October 27. Ishiba is scheduled to take office as prime minister on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters, Ishiba said he would order new elections to be held as soon as circumstances permit, because the new government needs the support of the people behind it.
Ishiba is the former long-time prime minister of Japan, who was killed in an assassination Shinzo Abe a fierce critic who won the leadership of the Liberal Democratic Party in a very close vote on Friday.
