The day after the assassination of Japan’s former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, memorial services were held on Saturday in several places in Japan. At the same time, the work of the security service and the police is questioned – many wonder why no one intervened when the perpetrator approached with a raised weapon.

The police’s actions in connection with the shooting will now be examined by an investigation. Although Abe had his own bodyguards on site, neither they nor the police intervened before the killer he fired the two deadly shots.

From what has emerged so far, it was only decided the day before that Shinzo Abe would attend the election meeting in Nara – however, the local authorities state that they had enough time to prepare.
