Japan reopens its doors to tourists after two years

Japan, which closed its doors to tourists two years ago due to the coronavirus epidemic, is starting to allow entry to citizens of 98 countries.

However, these touristic visits will be subject to some rules.

The requirement for tourists to enter the country with a tour group is one of them.

While it was expected to host the 2020 summer Olympics, Japan took very strict measures due to the epidemic during the Olympics that hung until 2021 due to the epidemic, and the Olympics were held largely without spectators.

Japan has already relaxed travel restrictions for those living abroad and business travelers. From mid-March, international students were also allowed to enter the country.

As of June 1, the upper limit of the number of people who can enter the country from abroad will be increased to 20 thousand.

Tourists from 98 countries and administrative regions will be able to enter the country from 10 June, provided that they are included in the tour groups. However, these countries, including the UK, will be divided into three categories according to their risk status.

Those arriving from countries that will be separated by the colors red, yellow and blue will be able to bypass the quarantine rules according to their risk group.

Tourism, the country’s major source of income, had dropped 90 percent in 2020 due to the coronavirus.

Tour companies are expecting a heavy tourist demand to the country following the Japanese government’s decision.
