Japan industrial production drops more than expected in August

(Finance) – Expectations falling more than expected production of Japanese factories. According to the preliminary estimate of the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry (METI), the industrial production index in the month of August 2024, would have recorded a decrease of 3.3% on a monthly basis, after the +3.1% recorded in July. Analysts’ estimates are for a decline of 0.5%.

On an annual basisthe non-seasonally adjusted production figure shows a change of -4.9%.

The decrease in production contributed to the monthly decline in production deliveries (-4% month on month) and inventories (-0.6%).

There inventory ratio is equal to +5.2%.
