(Finance) – Japan’s balance of payments closes in deficit in January.
According to Japanese Ministry of Finance (MOF), a current account deficit of 1,977.6 billion yen was generated, compared to assets of 334 billion in the previous month and 580.4 billion in the same month of 2022. Analysts’ estimates were for a liability of 818 billion yen.
There trade balance of goods and services closed with a deficit of 3,940.1 billion yen, against a deficit of 1,580.3 billion in December and 238.7 billion the year before, against an increase in exports to 6,822.7 billion yen (+3.4% on an annual basis) and a growth in imports to 10,004.5 billion (+22.3% y/y).
