Japan Airlines plane on fire at Tokyos Haneda Airport

A Japan Airlines Airbus A350 caught fire on January 2 at Tokyo airport. The Airbus cabin is on fire and emergency services are at work. All 367 people on board were evacuated, but five people are missing. The plane is believed to have hit another aircraft.

At around 5:40 p.m. local time (8:40 a.m. UT), a Japan Airlines plane caught fire on the tarmac at Tokyo-Haneda airport, after a possible collision with a Japanese coast guard aircraft, Japanese media reported .

Live footage broadcast by NHK news television showed flames shooting out of the Airbus A350 as fire crews tried to put out the blaze. The people on board were able to be evacuated.

All runways at the airport were closed and flights diverted to other airports, a spokesperson for the Japanese capital’s airport said.
