The ironing tip January 28
No Premier League this weekend, but the FA Cup and a hefty Ironing Tips coupon! Here we share our tips and analysis of the 13 matches!
The Premier League has a shorter break, but that doesn’t mean the English teams get any time off. It is a full round of the FA Cup this weekend, where one match is played on Friday, eleven on Saturday and then another couple of matches on Sunday and Monday.
In normal order, we play a 96-row system, which means five half-guards, one full-guard and seven spikes. If you only want to bet on a few of the matches, we recommend that you go via Bet365 and perhaps also use odds bonuses.
1 Manchester United – Reading, 1
The first match on Saturday’s Stryktipskupon is the one between Manchester United and Reading. Manchester United continue to show good form, despite two straight, unlucky points drops in the Premier League. They bounced back by defeating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the league cup, and here we believe in another success in the next cup match. We feel very comfortable leaving the 1st alone when Championship mid-table Reading visit.
2 Preston – Tottenham, X2
Preston and Tottenham meet in one of the last 16 of the FA Cup. Tottenham have mixed and given for a good while now, and you really don’t know where you have the team. Of course you have to be stronger than the Championship team Preston, but at the moment a bet on Tottenham is never a safe bet. Preston have also done well in the month of January, with three wins out of a possible four. We choose to play X2, and hope Preston takes this to extra time!
3 Fulham – Sunderland. 1X
Fulham are having an incredible season, where they are seventh in the Premier League and actually have a realistic chance of a Champions League spot. The question is whether you will take the momentum into the FA Cup, or whether you have such a focus on the Premier League that other competitions suffer?
Sunderland is having a pretty good season in the Championship, and is fighting for a playoff spot. We dare not rule out threatening Fulham here and getting a draw after 90 minutes. We play 1X.
4 Southampton – Blackpool, 1
Southampton are last in the Premier League, and Blackpool are second last in the Championship. Almost exactly one division separates the teams in terms of quality. Southampton came to life a bit when they won the vital bottom game against Everton, and at times like this – when the league season is incredibly weak – it can be nice to get a cup game in the middle of it all. The nerves and anxiety of risking a ride out disappear for a moment, and players can play more relaxed. Also against a weak team in the form of Blackpool. Here we believe in home victory, and singles 1.
5 Blackburn Rovers – Birmingham, 1
Two Championship teams that meet in the A-cup. Blackburn is in fourth place in the table, and Birmingham in 19th place. When the teams met in the league, Blackburn won 2-1, and in addition, Blackburn won both games between the teams last season. And the season before that. Much that speaks for Blackburn here, then, and we believe they will win this time as well. The 1st is left alone.
6 Ipswich – Burnley, 2
Ipswich are third in League One, while Burnley top the Championship. Considering that Burnley has more or less already secured promotion, one can afford to also put full focus on the FA Cup, while Ipswich is fighting to reach direct promotion and possibly prioritizing the FA Cup. We choose to single the 2nd.
7 Bristol City – West Bromwich, 1X2
Bristol City are 17th in the Championship, but have shown very good form with six straight games without defeat. West Brom are 10th in the Championship, but lost their last game. It is difficult to know where both teams stand, and when they have met in the league this season they have won one meeting each. We save the day!
8 Luton v Grimsby Town, 1
Luton are fighting for a playoff place in the Premier League, while Grimsby Town are a team in the bottom half of League Two. Here, there is no talk of which team is the favourite, and considering that Luton also has the advantage of home field, we find it difficult to see anything other than them coming out victorious from this match. The straight 1 is singled.
9 Sheffield W – Fleetwood, 1X
Sheffield Wednesday are second in League One, while Fleetwood are 17th in the same league. Sheffield are on a roll at the moment and are legitimate favorites here. But you never know with these cup games, especially given the important league games Sheffield have ahead of them. We believe in home victory, but choose to protect ourselves with the draw. 1X.
10 Coventry – Huddersfield, 1X
Match from the Championship. Coventry are completely out of shape, and even if Viktor Gyökeres is doing well, he can’t arrange everything on his own. Despite the deep dip in form, they are in the middle of the table, but we will see where this ends if they continue in the same way. Huddersfield are in the relegation zone, but have won two of their last four games. Three of the teams’ last four games against each other have ended in a draw, and we choose to start with X and then protect ourselves with a home victory. 1X will be our game.
11 Hull v Queens Park Rangers, X2
Coupon’s second Championship match. Hull and QPR are both mid-table, with QPR now cruising almost all of their games; four of the team’s last five matches have ended in a draw. But away from home they are one of the league’s best teams, and against a weak Hull we believe more in QPR than in Hull. We play X2 in this match.
12 Middlesbrough – Watford, 1
Middlesbrough have won their last three home games, and there hasn’t been a single defeat at the Riverside Stadium since October. Here you face a Watford who are weak away from home, and who have not shown any great form lately. We nail the 1st.
13 Peterborough – Portsmouth, 1
The coupon’s only match from League One. Peterborough are 8th in the table, while we have Portsmouth in 10th. At home, Peterborough is one of the series’ best teams, where they are 8-1-3. To compare with the team’s away record 4-1-8. They have also won their last three home games against Portsmouth, and we believe in a fourth in a row. The 1st singles.
